Details

The CAGI Cantina Giubiasco is a company that was founded in 1929 and that vinifies the grapes of more than 450 winemakers in Ticino.

In recent years the winery has significantly improved the quality of its wines by enhancing old hillside vineyards in the Bellinzona area and its surroundings.

The Merlot is definitely the symbolic grape cell cellar with which creates unique wines and appreciated.

The Vigna Noverasca Ticino DOC Chardonnay Barricato is a Chardonnay Ticino DOC wine barricade of the Cantina Giubiasco of superior quality produced with Chardonnay grapes from Noverasca (Municipality of Camorino).

It is a Chardonnay wine that expresses its best potential after 2-3 years from the harvest.

At the beginning of the 90s in Ticino and in particular in Sopraceneri, vineyards with white grapes were very rare. To compensate in part to this deficiency the then director of the Cantina di Giubiasco had the farsighted idea of planting the Chardonnay in a rut of Camorino in the area called Noverasca, his example was followed by two other winemakers nearby and thanks to that there were the conditions to produce a small cru, the total area is about 6'000 sqm with a total of 3'000 vines cultivated all in the hills.

In order to enhance and better distinguish this denomination, the choice was made to vinify the wine produced in barriques. This means that the must produced with a soft pressing is immediately placed in barriques where it carries out its alcoholic fermentation, then it is refined on its fine lees and after 9-12 months it is bottled.

It reaches its full maturity after a refinement of six months in bottle, but maintains its characteristics even for several years.
