Details

The Tenuta Castello di Morcote estate is located on the promontory of Arbostora surrounded by Lake Lugano, an extremely fascinating place that is expertly managed by Gaby Gianini, the soul of the estate.

172 hectares of farm with 7 hectares of terraced vineyards with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc grapes with a soil of porphyry origin unique in the whole of Ticino.

The estate has converted all its wine production into organic culture and after a decade of experimentation in biodiversity in the vineyards, in 2017 the vineyard of Castello di Morcote was the first vineyard of 7 hectares in Ticino to receive federal BIO certification.

Tenuta Casello di Morcote was confirmed in 2018 as one of the best Swiss wineries by the Gault&Millau guide and among the TOP 150 by the Vinum guide.

The Castello di Morcote Merlot Ticino DOC of the Tenuta Castello di Morcote  was created from a soil with a granitic-porphyric composition, a peculiar characteristic of the promontory of Arbostora. Altitude between 300 and 450 meters above sea level, microclimate conferred by the lake mirror, south / south-east exposure.

Its vinification process is carried out using the classic Bordeaux method, with the skins being left in contact with them for about 20 days in truncated-cone wooden vats at a controlled temperature. Replacements and manual punching.

It is aged for at least 12 months in new and used French oak barriques of various sizes. Further refinement in bottle for 6 months.
